I have a feeling that the dinner party/bouquet analogy is going to stick with me for a while. It’s not a great feeling to let things and people go, but you’re so right - the gaps leave us space for possible growth.

Your mother has so much wisdom! I used to get so anxious when I would lose friends and lovers. Now I feel that everyone serves their purpose on the train of life - some are meant for most of the ride while others have to get off at their respective destinations.

this really resonates as someone losing friendships in my early 20s, it’s hard for me bcos i really try to hold on but like u say here letting go of those people will allow me to focus on the connections genuinely enriching my life now
